The Community Health Care Center (CHC) opened 1979. Frontier Nursing Service, like all other rural healthcare givers has seen it’s share of financial hard times. These gloomy times resulted in the closing of several rural clinics in the Big Creek area of Leslie and Clay County. But in effort to continue the mission that our founder initiated, a culmination of 3 clinics merged to become the Community Health Care Center. This decision meant patients would have to travel farther, but that seemed like a small price to pay to receive healthcare from a source people had come to rely upon on and trust.
Today, CHC continues to be a beacon to the community that has long supported it. The Center not only provides health care but also displays some beautiful works of art paying homage to its heritage and it’s founder.
